Project “Lines”

”Lines” is an art project weaving together diverse historical and cultural contexts through a series of paintings. Each distinct composition contributes to a unified narrative, forming a cohesive mosaic on square wooden surfaces. Central to each artwork is the presence of lines, adorning flat silhouettes with intricate patterns that either enhance the narrative or visually deconstruct it.
It takes its roots in Byzantine iconography, Japanese woodcuts and Middle East symbolism. “Lines” seeks to blur the delineations of individual peoples and cultures across time, shifting the focus onto the perceptual “line” through which we view them, often diverging significantly from their original context. By highlighting this evolving perspective, the project prompts reflection on the fluid nature of identity and representation.
